Many bus services run along Orchard Road and nearby roads, with stops within easy reach of the building. If you are travelling by taxi or a ride-hailing service, you can be dropped at the Mount Elizabeth entrance, which is convenient for couples attending fertility appointments together or when you are coming for a procedure. The medical centre has a paid visitor carpark for those who drive, though it can be busy during clinic hours, so allow a little extra time. Once inside, the building directory and reception staff can guide you to the correct floor and clinic suite.
What reproductive medicine, fertility and IVF covers
Dr Kelly Loi’s focus is reproductive medicine, fertility and IVF, alongside minimally invasive gynaecological and reproductive surgery. This area of care helps individuals and couples who are trying to conceive, as well as those investigating why pregnancy has not occurred. Typical areas include:
- Assessment of fertility — reviewing menstrual and medical history, ovulation, and tests for both partners where relevant.
- Ovulation problems and hormonal conditions that can affect conception.
- In vitro fertilisation (IVF) and other forms of assisted reproduction.
- Reproductive surgery, where structural issues such as cysts or adhesions may be addressed using minimally invasive techniques.
Fertility care is highly individual. Investigations aim to identify any contributing factors, and the plan is tailored to your circumstances, age and preferences. Not everyone needs IVF; some couples benefit from simpler measures, and the doctor will explain the range of options.
What to expect at a consultation
A first visit usually involves a careful discussion of your medical and menstrual history, how long you have been trying to conceive, and any previous treatment. Where relevant, both partners may be assessed. Investigations can include blood tests to check hormone levels, an ultrasound scan of the womb and ovaries, and tests of fertility for both partners. The doctor will explain the findings and discuss possible approaches, from lifestyle measures and timed treatment to assisted reproduction such as IVF, so that you can decide together on a plan that suits you.
Preparing for your appointment
It is helpful to bring the following to your visit:
- Photo identification and any GP or polyclinic referral letter.
- Previous fertility test results, scans, semen analysis reports or operation notes.
- A current list of medications and supplements for both partners.
- A record of your menstrual cycle, including recent dates and length.
- A written list of your questions, which is especially useful given the amount of information covered in fertility consultations.
After your consultation and follow-up
After the appointment you will usually have a clear next step, whether that is further testing, monitoring or beginning treatment. Results of investigations are typically reviewed at a follow-up visit. If assisted reproduction is recommended, the team will explain the stages involved, the schedule and what to expect at each point. Fertility treatment often involves several appointments over a cycle, so continuity of care matters. You are welcome to seek a second opinion at any stage. Contact the clinic promptly if you experience significant pain, heavy bleeding or other symptoms during treatment rather than waiting for the next scheduled visit.
Booking, referrals and fees
As a private clinic, appointments can generally be made directly without a referral, though a GP or polyclinic letter helps by passing on your history and may be relevant for subsidies in a public setting. Certain assisted reproduction treatments in Singapore may attract MediSave use within set limits and conditions, and Integrated Shield Plans or other schemes may apply to eligible items, while consultations are usually paid out of pocket. Because coverage and eligibility vary, confirm the details, limits and any estimates directly with the clinic and the relevant scheme before starting treatment.
Common questions
When should we see a fertility specialist?
It is reasonable to seek advice if you have been trying to conceive for some time without success, or earlier if there are known factors such as irregular cycles or relevant medical history. The clinic can advise based on your situation.
Does IVF guarantee a pregnancy?
No fertility treatment can guarantee success. Outcomes depend on many factors, and the doctor will discuss what is realistic for your circumstances.
Do both partners need to be assessed?
Fertility involves both partners, so assessment of each is often part of the process to give the fullest picture before planning treatment.
Can MediSave be used for fertility treatment?
MediSave may be used for certain assisted reproduction treatments within set limits and conditions. Confirm what applies to your treatment with the clinic and the relevant scheme.
