Investigations look at both partners, since male-factor problems contribute in a substantial share of couples, so input on andrology can be as important as the female assessment.
What to look for when choosing a fertility specialist in Singapore
- Registration: Confirm the doctor is on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register, typically as an O&G specialist with reproductive-medicine experience.
- Relevant focus: Match the specialist to your situation, such as IVF and assisted reproduction, recurrent miscarriage, egg freezing and fertility preservation, male-factor infertility, or endometriosis and reproductive surgery.
- Clinic and laboratory: The quality of the embryology laboratory and the support team matters in assisted reproduction, so ask how the clinic is set up.
Costs and financing
Fertility care is available in both public and private settings. Eligible couples undergoing assisted-reproduction treatment at public Assisted Reproduction centres can receive substantial Government co-funding, and MediSave can be used towards treatment within set withdrawal limits and eligibility rules, which include criteria relating to citizenship and age. Co-funding is offered at the public AR centres rather than private clinics. Because the rules and caps can change, confirm your eligibility and the current limits with the centre and check what your insurance covers before starting a cycle.
