Hair-loss clinics in Singapore range from medical therapy and scalp treatments to FUE hair-transplant surgery. The keys are a doctor-led diagnosis of the cause, realistic expectations and natural-looking results. Here are clinics we rate.
How we chose
This is an editorial shortlist, not paid placement. We prioritise providers accredited by Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) and listed on the Specialist Register where applicable, with relevant experience, genuine patient feedback and transparency about who treats you. We don’t publish a clinic’s rating or price unless we can verify it from a reliable source.

What a hair-loss clinic treats and when to seek help
Hair-loss clinics assess and manage thinning hair, receding hairlines, patchy loss and scalp conditions in both men and women. Causes range from male and female pattern hair loss to stress, nutritional deficiency, thyroid problems, scalp inflammation and certain medications. It is worth seeking a doctor-led assessment early if you notice rapid shedding, widening parting, bald patches, scalp redness or scarring, or hair loss alongside other symptoms, because the underlying cause guides treatment and earlier intervention generally gives better results.
How to choose a hair-loss clinic in Singapore
- Look for a doctor-led diagnosis rather than a product-led sales pitch. The cause should be identified before any treatment plan is set.
- Confirm the treating doctor is registered with the Singapore Medical Council. Note that hair restoration is not a recognised specialty register, so check relevant training, experience and case volume instead.
- For hair-transplant surgery, ask who performs the procedure, how grafts are harvested (for example FUE), and whether the work is done in an accredited facility.
- Ask to see consistent before-and-after results, and be wary of guarantees of regrowth.
- Make sure realistic expectations, donor-area limits and long-term maintenance are discussed.
Medical therapy, procedures and surgery
Options usually progress from medical management, such as topical and oral treatments, to in-clinic therapies, and finally to hair-transplant surgery for suitable candidates with stable loss and a good donor area. Many people need ongoing medical treatment to preserve existing hair even after a transplant, so a long-term plan matters more than any single procedure.
Public versus private care
Pattern hair loss is generally treated in the private sector. Where hair loss results from an underlying medical condition, such as a thyroid or skin disorder, a polyclinic or GP referral to the relevant specialty in the public system may be appropriate for the underlying cause, while the cosmetic aspect remains private.
Costs and financing
Treatment for hair loss and hair-transplant surgery is considered cosmetic and elective. It is generally paid out of pocket and is not claimable under MediSave or MediShield Life, and CHAS does not apply. Costs vary with the treatment type, the number of grafts for a transplant and the number of sessions required. Ask for a clear written quotation, including follow-up and any maintenance treatments, before committing.
Questions to ask
- What is causing my hair loss, and how was it diagnosed?
- Which treatments suit my case, and what results are realistic?
- Who performs the procedure, and what are the risks and recovery time?
- What ongoing treatment will I need to maintain results?
Common questions
Can MediSave cover hair-loss treatment or a transplant?
No. These are cosmetic and elective and are paid out of pocket. MediSave and MediShield Life do not apply.
Will a hair transplant last forever?
Transplanted follicles are usually long lasting, but existing non-transplanted hair can continue to thin, so ongoing medical treatment is often advised to preserve overall density.
How soon will I see results?
Medical treatments typically take several months to show effect, and transplanted hair usually grows gradually over many months, with fuller results after about a year.
