A neutral, editorial directory of notable dentists & dental specialists practising in Singapore, grouped by sub-specialty to help you find the right expertise. This is not a ranking and not a paid listing.
How we compiled this directory
We list established, currently-practising dentists & dental specialists with a clear public professional footprint, chosen to cover the main areas of dental and oral health care — not by who pays. Profiles are compiled from public sources and we omit ratings and prices, which we cannot independently verify. This is an independent editorial selection, not an advertisement — see our editorial policy. Always verify a doctor’s current registration on the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) register and choose based on your own needs, your GP’s referral and your insurance.

How to choose
- Start with a general dentist for routine check-ups, cleaning, fillings and most everyday dental care; they will refer you to a dental specialist when needed.
- Match the specialist to your need — an orthodontist for braces/aligners, an oral & maxillofacial surgeon for complex extractions and jaw surgery, a periodontist for gums and implants, an endodontist for root canal, a prosthodontist for crowns/dentures/implants, or a paediatric dentist for children.
- Check registration on the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) register — dental specialists appear on the SDC specialist register — and confirm fees directly with the clinic.
- Costs — routine dental care at polyclinics is subsidised, and MediSave can be used for certain surgical dental procedures (e.g. surgical wisdom-tooth removal); confirm eligibility with the clinic.

General dentist or dental specialist?
For routine check-ups, cleaning, fillings and most everyday care, a general dentist is the right starting point and will refer you to a specialist when needed. Match the specialist to the problem — an orthodontist for braces or aligners, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for complex extractions and jaw surgery, a periodontist for gums and implants, an endodontist for root canal, a prosthodontist for crowns, dentures and implants, or a paediatric dentist for children.
What to look for when choosing a dentist in Singapore
Confirm the dentist is registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC). Dental specialists appear on the SDC specialist register, so you can check a specialist title there.
- Clear explanation of options, including doing nothing or simpler alternatives, before complex treatment.
- Transparent fees and a written treatment plan, especially for implants, orthodontics and cosmetic work.
- Convenient location and follow-up arrangements, as many treatments need several visits.
Public versus private dental care
Polyclinics and public dental clinics provide subsidised routine care, while private clinics offer a wider range of cosmetic and specialist services and shorter waits. Many families use polyclinics for basic care and a private clinic or specialist for orthodontics, implants or cosmetic treatment.
Costs and financing
Routine dental care at polyclinics is subsidised, and CHAS cardholders may receive subsidies on common dental procedures at participating clinics. MediSave can be used for certain surgical dental procedures, such as surgical (impacted) wisdom-tooth removal and some implant surgery, subject to withdrawal limits — but not for routine or purely cosmetic treatment. Confirm eligibility and limits directly with the clinic before treatment.
Common questions
Can I use MediSave for braces or teeth whitening?
No. MediSave does not cover routine or cosmetic dentistry such as braces or whitening. It applies only to specific approved surgical procedures.
Do I need a referral to see a dental specialist?
You can often book directly, but a general dentist’s referral helps ensure the specialist has your records and X-rays.
How do I check a dentist’s qualifications?
Search the Singapore Dental Council register, where registered dentists and listed specialists appear.
